State of the Field
To comprehend the full scope of the relationship between faith and philanthropy we first need to grasp the current state of the field. The research conducted aims to facilitate an understanding and partnership between secular and religious philanthropic institutions. We assessed this relationship by centering our research on three focus areas:
- Identifying when, how, and why religion became marginalized in institutional philanthropy
- Documenting the various ways faith inspired organizations present their faith identify in secular nonprofit settings
- Examining equivalent intersectional models (e.g. race and philanthropy, LGBTQ and philanthropy)
